Charles Webster Leadbeater (1854-1934) was an English clergyman, Theosophist, occult writer, lecturer, and one of the most influential figures in the Theosophical movement after Helena Petrovna Blavatsky. Originally ordained in the Church of England, Leadbeater became interested in spiritualism, occult philosophy, and Eastern religious thought, eventually joining the Theosophical Society. His move from Anglican ministry into Theosophy reflected the wider late nineteenth-century interest in hidden knowledge, comparative religion, psychic research, and alternative spiritual traditions.Leadbeater wrote extensively on clairvoyance, astral planes, chakras, thought-forms, reincarnation, spiritual evolution, and the unseen structure of the universe.
