Through texts and interviews, experts and protagonists from the fashion world share their insights. The publication brings together iconic examples from fashion houses such as Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior, Alexander McQueen, Martin Margiela, Prada, Paco Rabanne, Viktor & Rolf, Louis Vuitton, Yohji Yamamoto, and others, from its early forms around 1900 to the present day. Contributors include Jochen Eisenbrand, Katharina Krawczyk, Barbara Vinken, Carla Sozzani, Caroline Evans, Atlas of Shows, Jens Balzer, Valerie Steele, and Vesna Kontere McQuillan. In addition there are also interviews with Cathy Horyn, Mägosia Bela, Lucien Pagès, and Inge Grognard.

Jochen Eisenbrand is Head Curator at the Vitra Design Museum. Jens Balzer is a pop culture critic and feature writer at Die Zeit. Katharina Krawczyk is an art and cultural historian, she works at the intersection between art and fashion.
