"A beautifully devastating memoir ... A remarkable odyssey of learning to 'live fully in the shadow of death.'" - Publishers Weekly (Editor's Pick)Winner, GOLD MEDAL, Global Book Awards
When Tony Stewart and his wife Lynn learned that she had incurable cancer, they sat together at their kitchen table-holding hands, cherishing their time, and wondering how to make the most of what remained. Thus began their extraordinary journey of courage, heartbreak and enduring love, as they navigated the twists and turns of Lynn's treatment while learning to live fully in the shadow of death.
Carrying the Tiger chronicles their final years together with unflinching honesty and deep tenderness. Through Tony's eyes and excerpts from his journal, we witness the intimate moments that matter most: difficult decisions made with courage and hope; love, laughter and dancing at midnight; and the honor and privilege of being present for Lynn's final breath.
But Carrying the Tiger doesn't end with Lynn's passing. It continues into the wilderness of grief: the shattering disorientation, the guilt, the slow and uncertain path toward life, as Tony learns to experience joy again without diminishing his love for Lynn.
If you're caring for someone with terminal illness, this book illuminates the road ahead. If you're navigating the aftermath of loss, it offers the comfort of shared experience. And if you're simply wondering how to keep living when everything has changed, these pages prove that even in darkness, light can break through.
This is the book Tony wished he'd had. It will move you, comfort you, and stay with you long after the last page.

Über den Autor
Tony Stewart has made award-winning films for colleges and universities, written software that received rave reviews in The New York Times and the New York Daily News, designed a grants-management application that was used by three of the five largest charities in the world, and led the development of an international standard for the messages involved in buying and selling advertisements, for which he spoke at conferences across Europe and North America. Tony and his late wife Lynn Kotula, a painter, traveled extensively in India and Southeast Asia, staying in small hotels off the beaten track and eating delicious food with their fingers when cutlery wasn't available. Inspired by the experience of writing Carrying the Tiger, Tony studied with David Kessler and is now a Certified Grief Educator. Learn more: www tonystewartauthor com.
