Beschreibung
This is the true story of the first Dane and first Chinese to row across an Ocean, using a rowboat built in China. They did this in 2001, long before China became the economic superpower it is today, when most people, Chinese and Western alike, believed such an off the wall cross-cultural project was doomed to fail. Yet, against overwhelming odds, the pair succeeded, and they also raised scholarships to send two Mainland Chinese students to the United World College of the Atlantic.

Havrehed tells a down to earth, moving, and often funny story of the unlikely pairing's unique adventure, which went pre-social media viral in China. This updated edition includes perspectives into China's changing role in the world and the new challenges this brings for international understanding and cross-cultural cooperation.

Über den Autor
Christian Havrehed is an ex-consultant, sinologist, adventurer, inspirational speaker, teambuilder and writer, who has lived 20 years in China. He founded the Yantu Project (¿¿¿¿) or 'The On-going Project' in 2000, to promote Sino-Western cross-cultural understanding because he observed there was, and still is, a need for this. His concept is to use unusual China related cross-cultural maritime adventures to engage people around the world. By following his adventures, people get to know China and the Chinese better in an exciting and entertaining way. With his adventures Christian showcases that Mainland Chinese and Westerners can achieve anything together, as long as they are willing to trust and believe in each other. His adventures thereby challenge the Status Quo thinking of most Chinese and Westerners. He uses his adventures to promote and fundraise for the alma mater United World Colleges, a group of international schools with the mission: "United World Colleges ("UWC") makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future."
