Your Step-by-Step Plan for Banishing Workplace Burnout

"Problems at work can hit you hard.

  • It hurts so bad.
  • I've been done wrong.
  • This is not the way it is supposed to be.
  • It's driving me crazy.
  • I'm mad as hell and won't take it anymore.
  • Stop the world, I want to get off.

When burnout hits you, then you've got trouble with a capital T. Burnout is far more than feeling blue or having a bad day. It is a chronic state of being out of synch with your job, and that can be a significant crisis in your life. . . . This book presents a guide to addressing burnout against all odds. The challenge is to find a way of furthering your personal agenda for work in a less-than-completely-friendly environment. We realize that you cannot change this environment all by yourself. But you can learn to manage it more effectively, sidestepping some pitfalls, and turning dubious situations to your advantage."
--from Banishing Burnout

"Exceptional . . . a book for everyone in the workforce! Banishing Burnout will help you assess the most critical components of job success, while also helping you identify and develop strategies for mitigating the challenges and exploiting the opportunities of a less- than-perfect workplace."
--Ron Coley, associate vice chancellor, Business and Administrative Services, University of California, Berkeley
