At His Feet in Confession by Marc Bastawrous is a gentle Orthodox guide to repentance and the sacrament of confession, for anyone who finds the first step hard or the journey confusing.
The first step in the journey of repentance is often the most difficult to take, and the journey itself can at times feel confusing, burdensome and even painful. With it come many questions: "Does God hear my repentance? Am I doing it right? How do I confess properly?"
This book sheds light on some of the answers. Through stories, illustrations and the words of the spiritual giants of the Church, it guides the reader to the feet of Christ in confession, and shows repentance as a new way of loving God rather than a burden to be endured.
The second part of the book is a hidden gem of Orthodoxy: St Ephraim the Syrian's homily on the sinful woman, "For She Loved Much". It is a beautiful retelling of her story, tracing the path she would have walked on her way to the feet of Christ.
Helpful for young people and adults preparing for confession, for those returning to the Church after time away, and for servants and fathers of confession looking for a short, warm book to share.
