He is author of Africa and the Blues; Jazz Transatlantic, Volume I: The African Undercurrent in Twentieth-Century Jazz Culture; and Jazz Transatlantic, Volume II: Jazz Derivatives and Developments in Twentieth-Century Africa, all published by University Press of Mississippi.
