In the desert landscape of El Paso, Texas, a border city where the United States meets Mexico, my childhood unfolded in a world shaped by two languages, two cultures, and the dynamic space where they intertwine. Growing up alongside my brother, who faced severe mental and physical challenges, profoundly shaped my perspective on life. Witnessing his resilience, my mom's unstoppable courage, and mamabuela's (grandma's) faithful love taught me to recognize beauty and possibility where others might have overlooked it. This life experience eventually guided me to be of service to my community by becoming a yoga instructor and opening AeroZen Yoga Studio. I am a mom to Benjamin Liam and Nadia Renée (both make up Brenée), who inspired me to write this book - an attempt to put into words my love for them, which expands with every breath I take. I am also a life partner to Alex with whom I now travel side by side to seek out the extraordinary in the ordinary. One of my greatest pleasures is the search for memorable coffee shops around the globe, savoring both unique flavors and the stories captured in a good cup of coffee. I also delight in journaling, preserving with words the thoughts, emotions, and important experiences that define my life. The sunset often finds me running at McKelligon Canyon, located in the Northeast of El Paso, where the mountains become both my endless source of inspiration and the sanctuary of my soul.
