Beschreibung
This is a bilingual poetry collection in English (titled *Behind God's Back*) and Spanish. The original poems were written in Hungarian and translated into English by Paul Sohar. Many of the poems relate to the author's tour of the Hungarian diaspora in South America. Sándor Kányádi was born and educated in the Hungarian community of Transylvania, Romania. He garnered every important prize in Romania and Hungary in addition to the prestigious Herter Prize in Vienna. His work has been translated into most European languages, including English: *Dancing Embers*, (selected translations, Twisted Spoon Press, 2002) followed by an enlarged edition *In Contemporary Tense* (Iniquity Press, 2013).
The three poets responsible for the Spanish translation first came to know Sándor Kányádi's poetry through English translations. The Hungarian titles are included for Hungarian readers who may want to look up the original text. He is still active, except his reading tours are closer to home now, but he still recites his poems and the Hungarian classics from memory.
