Grit-Lit. Action-Forward Literary Thriller. Southern Crime Fiction. Appalachian Noir. Whatever the label, A BUNCH OF FIVES is a bruising, cinematic thriller filled with visceral action, lush, detailed prose, and truly heartfelt emotion.

Danny Bradigan survives the war and a storied career as a professional fighter-only to be gunned down and left for dead. In the silence of a coma, as machines breathe for him and the world moves on, a mysterious old man bargains for his life. Danny's recovery and search for answers lead him to a small Appalachian town fighting desperately to keep its sins buried.

As his violent past stalks ever closer, Danny finds himself mentoring a young boxer and falling in love with the boy's sister. All three are caught between the town's festering wounds and the institutions determined to exploit its dark secrets at any cost.

Moving between the grit and realism of a devastating wartime rescue, the brutal intimacy of a championship boxing match, and a remote Appalachian town built on buried sins, A BUNCH OF FIVES is a bruising literary crime thriller that explores the simmering violence that men carry, the fragile nature of faith, and the blood-soaked cost of redemption.

Über den Autor
WILLIAM KELY MCCLUNG is a novelist, screenwriter, and filmmaker whose work is defined by its visceral pacing, atmospheric depth and raw physical reality. Named as one of the "Top 100 Indie Filmmakers in the World," McClung has written more than thirty feature screenplays and directed three award-winning feature films, cutting and mixing film projects in legendary spaces from London to Berlin. McClung has spent decades learning and teaching martial arts across the United States, Southeast Asia, and Europe-a lifetime of elite combat discipline that directly infuses his prose with authentic, high-velocity stakes and action. He was twice inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Honours for his contributions to martial art and action cinema. As in his three previous thrillers, Loop, Super Ninja, and Black Fire, McClung strives to strip away traditional artifice to create an immersive, non-linear experience where the presentation of words on the page becomes an active character. Besides writing, McClung travels and trains and teaches martial arts, studies graphic design, writing, and photography.
