Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Headquarters, 76 Infantry Brigade, 3rd Division, covering September 1915 to December 1917 across 649 pages. It names 77 places across 98 dated entries.

Alongside the daily entries the volume carries twelve casualty and personnel returns, 54 reports, narratives and plans, 98 Operation Orders, two defence schemes, six appendices, three maps and two diagrams. Among the papers are: Casualties, Operation, August 15th-20th; Part VIII casualties; Casualties Continued (Including Total of officers and Other Ranks); Lessons Learned; 76th Infantry Brigade report on operations September 25th-30th 1917; The Right Battalion Attack, 2nd Suffolk Regiment; Report on Grenadier Work during the operations; Report on Foulis Guns; Appendix "A" account of attack on Longueval Village by 1st Gordon Highlanders; Amendment to 76th Infantry Brigade operation order No. 52; Appendix III Time Table for the attack; Operation order.

The diary opens at Aldershot on 26 September 1915. 1915 is spent at Trenches Between Ypres Comines Canal And Verbrandenmolen, Eecke, Henry No 1 Herbert, In Billets At Eecke Near Cassel and Ploegsteert. 1916 at Estree Blanche, Bus-Les-Artois, Mazingarbe Chateau, Courcelle and Mericourt. 1917 at L'Homme Mort, Arras, S.E Of Morchies, Wanquetin and Rubempre. It closes at Blaireville on 31 December 1917. L'Homme Mort is where it spent longest, 64 days across four separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at Trenches Between Ypres Comines Canal And Verbrandenmolen.

Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Mazingarbe Chateau, Les Fosses Farm, Billon Wood, Philosophe Chateau, Bde At Chimpanzee Trench, Breslau Support Trench and Breslau Trench.
